According to a report by the Center for Rural Affairs, Making Health Insurance Affordable: Assistance to Individuals and Families in the Affordable Care Act, tax credits and subsidies provided by the ACA will be vital for rural residents who often pay more of their health costs than urban and suburban dwellers. On top of that, rural residents tend to have lower incomes and higher uninsured rates; making cost-sharing and the reduction of out-of-pocket expenses of even greater importance.
