Lovelace Health Plan removed from New Mexico Health Insurance Marketplace

Consumers in New Mexico will notice a recent change to the options available through the health insurance marketplace.

Lovelace Health Plan has been removed from both New Mexico’s individual health insurance exchange, which is operated by the federal government (HealthCare.gov) and New Mexico’s SHOP marketplace, operated by the state of New Mexico (NMHIX.com).

The removal of Lovelace Health Plan from the health insurance marketplace follows the November 11th announcement that Lovelace Health System reached an agreement with Health Care Service Corporation, through its affiliate Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico, to acquire the health plan.

There are now four carriers offering coverage through the public health insurance marketplace in New Mexico:

  • Health Care Service Corporation, through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico
  • New Mexico Health Connections, a new non-profit consumer oriented and operated health plan or co-op
  • Presbyterian Health Plan/Presbyterian Insurance Company
  • Molina Healthcare of New Mexico
